Why I Made a Needlepoint Retreat Calendar

I have never been on a needlepoint retreat. I keep hearing about them, and when I go looking for one, it is almost always sold out.

Some sell out months before they happen. The KC Needlepoint Artist Weekend in April 2027 went on sale September 5, 2026, and sold out in under ten days.

I put together a calendar of the retreats coming up in 2026 and 2027 so I could plan ahead, and figured I would share it.

What is on the calendar

As of this week it lists 69 retreats, from three-day weekends at a shop to river cruises and a week at a villa in Chianti. Published prices run from $125 to $4,670. The low end is Stitch-Stash in Rehoboth Beach, where the retreat is free and the $125 covers three days of lunch.

Every listing has the dates, the location, the cost, and whether you can still get in. Open one for the rest, including the hotel or room block and how to get on the waitlist.

You can search by shop or city, or filter to just the retreats that are open now. There is also a view by region.

Getting a spot

Registration works differently from shop to shop, so each listing spells it out, including what to do when there is no waitlist. A few shops run lotteries. Stitch by Stitch draws 80 names for its March retreat at Mohonk Mountain House on Instagram Live.

Some retreats that look sold out are not. One shop marks each retreat sold out until registration opens, three months ahead. Another shop's page says sold out on a retreat that still has room.

When to start looking

The top of the page has a list of dates to watch, like October 1, the registration deadline for CANVAS at The Needle Bug in Montgomery.

Below that are the retreats that have not announced their next dates, with last year's timing so you know when to look. Stitch In OKC opened registration for its November 2026 retreat on June 1 at 6pm Central. It sold out, and there is no waitlist.

Where a detail is missing or a shop's own pages disagree, the listing says so. The page shows when it was last checked, but prices and spots change, so check the organizer's page before you book.
